Bishop Fox Senior Security Associate Rhett Greenhagen will be presenting at Art Into Science this month. See details on his talk below.

Building Art from Noisy Data: Why Noise Is Important

Abstract:

In any security operations center, there are many logs; sorting through them all is nearly a Herculean task. There’s so much noise that comes through – it can be overwhelming and distracting. But before you discard that noise and move on with your workday, realize that it actually has importance. That noise may contain useful patterns about possible security threats.

In this talk, I’ll show you how you can combine art and science to siphon useful information from noise that comes through your logs. Hacking and manipulation are art forms in themselves, and using the science of graphing software and machine learning, you can ensure your work going forward is much more comprehensive.
